SC's child passenger restraint
law requires:
- Children from 0-20 lbs.
and 1 year old or less shall be restrained in a rear facing convertible
seat or infant seat.
- Children 20-40 lbs. and
over 1 year old shall be restrained in a forward facing convertible
seat.
- Children 40-80 lbs. and
under 4'-9" in height, shall be restrained in a belt-positioning,
high-back booster seat.
- Children over 80 lbs.
and at least 4'-9" tall shall be restrained by a safety belt
provided in the vehicle.
- Children ages 12 and under
shall ride properly restrained in the back seat. Air bags can cause
serious injuries, even death to children under the age of 13.
